I just had to buy those shoes....all three of them.
Well, yeah, superficially, they all look the same, except for the colors. But if you look in depth, they represent a different 'mood' each. Black = sophistication (well, i wear black shoes to work most of the time), Red = HOT (it makes one feels sexy, hot, spicy) and clay = sobriety (that's the best i can come up with). Bottom line, they are different individuals, just like u n me.
Why do we need that extra pair(s) of shoes? Do we actually need those shoes? Can we go to work without that new pair(s) of shoes and still make a living?
We spend billions of dollars to buy things we don't actually need. We wear clothes/shoes/bags that cost a bomb to impress people - whom we don't even know, or care. Why do we do that? Are we just a bunch of lonely people who just need to get those stuff to compensate our loneliness? We fill the emptiness in our heart/life with those trinket boxes, chandelier earrings (which look ridiculous to be worn when sober), the decorative chopstick which neither 'decorative' nor functional. We thot; I JUST NEED TO GET THIS ONE without knowing WHY we NEED IT. Then, we brought them back, stashed somewhere and they disappear into oblivion within a week.
I bet our grandmothers didn't shop as much when they were young. How do they cope with life? Was it the raising of kids one every two years and continuously for the next 20 years kept them occupied? Or was it the gossipping routine around 9 am every morning around Ah Chong Tokey Ikan's motorbike that made them going without those extra shoes/bags?
Well, we don't get to talk with our neighbours much these days (we prefer it that way, that's why we pay so much for so little apartment we live in), we see our spouse/partner after 10pm every night and part ways at 7am the next day on week days - how much conversation can we strike (while awake)from 10pm to 11pm, and grocery shopping at Tesco don't leave us much space to chat with the Banglas who mop the floor there.
No wonder we are so lonely...no wonder we need those shoes....always...
